A multi-blooming flower to attract pollinators to your garden.

From mid summer to fall, these gorgeous wild blooming sunflowers can grow up to 3 metres tall.

Sunflowers first appeared during the Eocene period, dating back 8 million years.

Sunflowers track the sun, making them a phototropic flower. Over the course of the day, the flower follows the sun from east to west.

This flower is wonderful for the soil, and naturally improves the soil health by removing pollutants. The sunflower's ability to do this is called phytoextraction.

Wild sunflowers can be cultivated for gardens and as cut flowers. They can be used in food, fabric, paper, cosmetics and paint. What makes a wild sunflower different from a typical sunflower is the size of the flower and the amount of blooms per plant. A typical sunflower has a single heftier stalk, and can grown up to 5 metres tall and half a metre in diameter. The wild flowers grow with thinner limbs, more outreach, and smaller blooms.

At the Rooted farm we have traditional sunflowers however, this years eye-catcher has been our wild Woodland sunflowers also known as the Rough sunflower. These natural beauties have seeded themselves along the driveway and along the forest line, making a stunning display for the month.

Sunflowers bring a joyful spirit to the garden, but they also represent abundance, enlightenment and truth seeking. To the Rooted Studio, this is our foundation and is why the sunflower is part of our brand.
