A reminder of sharing
The wind is blowing the snow in swirls and I wonder if Spring will arrive soon. This winter seems extra long and hard, but the renewal of hope comes from my maple trees that I have tapped for their sweet water.
The large maple trees are at the front of the property, near the entrance. They are a welcoming committee that have stood strong for decades, possibly a century, and are part of the many wonderful surprises the farm has given me.
As I remember that it takes fourty gallons of boiled sap to make one gallon of syrup, it helps me appreciate the abundance that Mother Nature gives us and the patience required to receive it.
In the process of boiling the sap down to a delicious sweet liquid, I know that I am fulfilling another part of my dream...to be as self-sufficient as possible. With the help of my farm, Rooted, I am able to prosper with the gifts that it wishes to share with me.
As I continue to give gratitude to the Elder trees, I contemplate the knowledge and energy they possess.
May, I also tap into the ancient wisdom of these wonders?
The maple leaf on our national flag represents the beautiful opportunity we have to cultivate our true spirit and redefine our meaning of freedom, pride, and faith in ourselves and each other. May we understand the tendency to share is universal.
-Take good care-
Annette
