A bright and cheerful perennial with a hardy bulb, and many varieties.
We naturally had to touch upon Lilies as they are part of my last name!
Near the Rooted farm, gorgeous orange Lilies decorate the roadsides and have been blooming a few weeks early this year.
Lillies require little care and multiply quickly, distinctively in clump formations. The bulbs are quite hardy, and don't need to be dug up in the fall. Having these beauties in your garden will also attract butterflies, adding joy and pollinators to your space.
Wild Day Lilies bloom late summer for weeks, while the blooming time and length of some hybrid varieties may vary. Hybrid Lilies come in a variety of colours and are excellent to use as fresh cut flowers.
With about 8,000 varieties each is unique in colour, size and pattern.. some having fragrance.
In our Rooted Garden we have Day Lilies, but our wish list includes oriental, asiatic, trumpet and many more. Common names you may hear are Tiger Lily, Easter Lily, and Stargazer Lily. The latter being one of my favourites to use as a cut flower in fresh arrangements.
